Player Profile – Alex Pollaci
In the summer of 2007, under the fresh ownership of the Greentree SportsPlex, the Riverhounds embarked upon a schedule of 13 camps in 10 weeks with only 3 pro players and 1 pro coach available. During the 2007 USL Professional Season, the Riverhounds were not competing as a pro team due to the change in ownership and the need for restructuring. That initial summer camp season proved extremely successful, as a structured camp curriculum was delivered to various locations in Western Pennsylvania. It was during that summer, at North Boundary Park, that we came across Alex Pollaci.
Alex currently trains in our U12/13 Elite Group 1. Since participating in the 2007 camp, Alex has also been involved in every Riverhounds offering to date, including nearly all 2008 pro team matches at Chartiers Valley High School. Throughout that year and a half, we have had the opportunity to be involved in the evolution of a soccer stud on-the-rise.
In our efforts to identify and progress players to their fullest potential, Alex became one of our first Academy ID players. While his involvement in our programming certainly validates our efforts to provide proper soccer training, it has also provided a measurable growth tracking system.
Alex’s work ethic and attitude clearly position him as a future high school and collegiate star. His attention to detail on technical aspects and improvement over the last 1.5 years provide the platform for a professional career. Impressing Tony “Tosh” Farrell of Everton FC’s Youth Academy during the Everton FC Trials this past summer speaks to the level Alex has achieved at his young age.
